Getting started

Food Devils Demo save compatibility

October 2026 Windows Demo · Sources checked November 3, 2026

The short answer

A Food Devils June Demo save cannot be used in the updated October Demo. The developer says you must start a new game for that transition.

For a save from the new October Demo, the developer promises compatibility with Early Access. That is an announced compatibility policy, not a migration we have tested. The November 3 EA launch was delayed, and a replacement date has not been confirmed.

Use when you played and which Demo update you installed to distinguish these cases. A later play session can still be using an older installation, so a calendar date alone is not proof of the save format.

What the October announcement actually covers

The October 19 announcement describes an expanded Prologue with Hunter and Poison, estimated at five to six hours plus replayability. It explicitly separates the June save incompatibility from its new-Demo-to-EA promise.

That promise is useful when deciding whether to invest in the new Demo. It does not document a manual file conversion, a save-folder path, a particular migration button or a guarantee about every later update. This guide gives no file-moving or deletion procedure.

Early Access is delayed; the new date is unknown

In the November 3 Forced Delay Announcement, Studio Daimon says its build was still awaiting Steam approval. The developer hoped to release later in the week but explicitly could not promise it.

The earlier November 3 date in interviews and the Demo announcement was a plan. Do not treat that line as proof that the EA build is now available. Check the current official store and latest announcement when making the eventual transition.

If the save still will not continue

  1. Separate an old June save from a loss inside the October Demo.
  2. Check the current official announcement for the version you are trying to launch.
  3. If it is an unexpected loading problem in the updated Demo, record the version and error or point where loading stops.
  4. Use the developer’s F9 report form when accessible, or the official Steam discussion for the problem.

These steps identify the right issue; they are not a guaranteed repair. Do not delete the existing save as a generic fix or assume that changing Permadeath will convert its format.

You can make the right save decision when…

You know whether the save came from June or the new October Demo and can distinguish an incompatible format from an expedition failure. October-to-EA transfer remains a developer promise until the relevant release and your actual save transition are available to check.

October 19 new-Demo announcement supplies the two compatibility statements and Prologue scope. November 3 official delay announcement supplies the current release caveat. No save migration or recovery was performed for this guide.
