Food Devils: prepare your next expedition

October 2026 Windows Demo · Sources checked November 3, 2026

The short answer

Prepare a Food Devils expedition around the humans, contracted skills and Master Rule you can actually use. At the restaurant, review available food buffs and adventurers, then leave with a rule-triggering plan and your preferred round-limit setting.

The checklist below is a suggested decision order. It does not claim the game forces every restaurant menu or conversation into this sequence.

On this page

1. Use the restaurant visit for the next run

The developer describes the restaurant as the hub for meta-progression: it is where the story and Table Talks continue, adventurers are recruited, and ingredients from expeditions become meal buffs for the next outing.

  • Story and Table Talks: check the interactions available after the return; they belong to the continuing progression between runs.
  • Food: choose from recipes and ingredients you actually have. Dishes provide next-run bonuses; this is preparation, not a blanket answer to missing Calories during a fight.
  • Recruitment: consider the available adventurers. Furniture affects who visits and some characteristics, while kitchens can affect innate traits.

You do not need a full recipe catalogue or a supposedly optimal furniture layout to make this visit useful. Identify the problem you want your available options to help with.

2. Choose the Devil and humans as one plan

The normal expedition format is one Food Devil and up to four human adventurers. “Up to” does not guarantee four recruits will be available, and the opening expedition has only two humans.

Adventurers have their own classes, stats and characteristics. Devil Contracts can change their skills and movement. Look at what the resulting unit can do rather than choosing only by its base class label.

Before you commit, inspect the party and skill information. Name the job each human supports: meeting the rule’s trigger, reaching an objective or contributing a useful action. This guide does not prescribe a universal class lineup.

3. Match the Master Rule to a possible human action

At the start of the expedition, the selected Master Rule defines how you generate Calories. Choose a rule you understand and can support with the available party.

For example, the developer’s Bonfire Bonanza explanation connects a human ending beside a Bonfire with Calorie generation, and notes the Hunter-contracted Warrior’s ability to make Bonfire tiles. That is a concrete link between a contracted unit’s kit and the run’s rule.

Use the Calories and Master Rules guide for the action and Hunger checks. You only need a workable trigger plan here; this checklist does not repeat every resource rule or rank all contracts.

4. Set the pressure and presentation you want

If a round counter ended the previous run, choose Forgiving Round Limits before departure. The developer says it has no drawback.

If repeated combat presentation is the problem, use the Combat Phase animation option. That changes how fights are presented, not their objective or the number of rounds.

Consider Permadeath as a choice about future human losses. Turning it off is not an established way to restore a previously dead adventurer.

If you returned with very few ingredients

Check the ingredients, recipes and available adventurers in the restaurant before assuming the save is finished. A current-Demo player reported having only Free Tea after a poor return, but their thread does not establish a guaranteed recovery recipe or its recruitment result.

This checklist therefore does not tell you to “just cook Tea” as a universal recovery method, invent a resource refund, or require starting a new save. If your actual available options prevent departure, report that state and version to the developer. For the opening story decision, use the first-expedition loss guide.

Ready to depart?

  • You know which Devil and available humans form this party.
  • You have reviewed the food or restaurant bonuses you can actually use.
  • You can name a human action that fulfils the chosen Master Rule.
  • You have chosen your next-run round-limit option.
  • At the next encounter, your first check will be its objective and counter.

This is a coherent starting plan. In-run skills and events can still ask you to adapt it.
